How did you get on with the links? If it's any consolation, I didn't get it either.

The Clipper Sea Witch is the link

A model of the ship was displayed by President Kennedy in the oval office,

Griffiths was the naval architect that in1846 built the ship. Her hull design was the fastest of its time.

77 days was the length of time for the round trip from New York to Hong Kong and return. 74 days became the new record in 1849 by the same ship - she kept that record for over 150 years. Being beaten in 2003 by a trimaran called Great American 2 in 72 days 21hrs.

The Sea Witch did not have access to the modern construction techniques or materials that the Great American 2 had and nor was the Great American laden with cargo, so a tremendous feat to know that the Sea Witch still holds the record for a mono hull vessel from Hong Kong to New York

For those of you who have no idea what a tea clipper looks like, this is a painting of the Sea Witch by an unknown Chinese artist.

And the Trimaran

Have a great week.
