Greetings,

This question came about after talking to some students that when presented with a similar set of questions they seemed to struggle a little. So I thought I would pass on the challenge

1. Your 0830 fix puts you on track and making 13 kts. Distance to the next waypoint at 0830 was  45nm, you have calculated that the tidal advantage over the duration of the trip will be 2kts in your favour. What time will you arrive?

2. The following day you start your journey at 0715 and arrive at your destination to go shopping at 0830. Your log tells you the distance covered was 35 nmWhat was your speed made good?

3. The following day you are going on a shopping trip, it is flat calm. You leave at 0830 and with the current helping you, make good 32kts. You arrive at the marina by the shopping centre at 0918.  How far was the journey?

Good Luck, my thoughts next week.
