Greetings, this question came from an advanced course we ran recently, some found it a bit of a challenge, so I thought I would give you a crack at it. Good luck.

You have left your anchorage and are now on route to your next marina. Your intended track takes you under a bridge with a charted clearance of 4.2m. Your draught is 2.5m, your air draught is 3.8m. The HAT is 7.8m, the MHWS is 7.6m. you have worked out that the height of tide by the time you get there will be 6.7m.  You can see from the almanac that you are on springs. Your plan takes you under the bridge at 1015, what clearance will you have if any?

My thoughts next week.
